About

Right now, I'm here to support our Healthcare Heroes. This is a stressful, overwhelming time for us all, and even more so for those on the front lines. You may NOT be looking to change your behaviors around wellness at this time, but you may need a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. What I've learned in my coaching experience is that simply telling your story to someone can help to discharge the strong emotions such as pain, sadness, and anger, bringing some relief. If you ARE looking for coaching around your health and wellness, I can offer that, as well. I've been working with smart women since 1996, helping them to trust their own inner wisdom on what "healthy eating" or the "right" amount of physical activity is, instead of depending on the "experts" or "gurus." My philosophy is called, "Wellness Without Rules™." I specialize in healing your relationship with food with Mindful Eating, and I love helping those who wish to transition to a more organic and "slow food" way of cooking and eating. I encourage you to experiment with what foods work for you - what you LOVE to eat - and what makes you feel good! There are no good foods and bad foods! No one likes to follow rules - I sure don't!! My job as your coach is NOT to direct you or give you more rules. My job is to find out what YOU truly want and then partner with you on the path to reaching that vision. There are no failures on this journey; just learning more and more about yourself and what works for you. Oh, and LOTS of self-compassion. ***************** Here's what a few of my clients have to say about our work together: "Working with Lisa always brings illumination. She is able to effectively offer guidance and insight about a range of issues, including work/entrepreneurial, health and fitness, and personal organization. She is equally adept with relationship concerns, emotional factors as they relate to health, and spirituality. Lisa listens like nobody else I know. When I read her recaps of our sessions, I always think, "Wow, she really GETS where I am." Beyond that, she offers creative ideas for getting unstuck and moving forward. Lisa is a very positive (but not "Pollyanna") person, which is a great balance to my tendency toward pessimism. After a session with Lisa, I am able to see the possibilities, not just the obstacles. I'm very grateful to have her in my life." - Michele R., Atlanta, GA “Working with Lisa is such a growth experience for me. I have discovered how applicable the Mindful Eating tools are to all aspects of my life. Between the tools and the space that Lisa creates, I have had epiphanies that have literally changed my life. As an added bonus, my relationship with food continues to evolve - I don't feel guilty when I eat "bad foods" because there are NO bad foods - it's all just fuel!!!” - Bernadette M., Brampton, Ontario, Canada “I have found Lisa very helpful as a coach and would highly recommend her. She has the ability to listen carefully, then help me clarify my thinking with questions. Her use of the Enneagram Personality Type Indicator has been a game-changer, helping me to learn that my core issue is trusting myself. She helps me turn that into the step by step changes I am making to have a fuller, more vibrant life. She uses the Am I Hungry? program very effectively to identify and change attitudes toward food and activity. Her background in exercise physiology also gives me extra confidence in her recommendations.” - Terry B., Kansas City, MO “Lisa is a skilled coach who utilizes her skills to understand the many aspects of my life. She has guided me in the continual process of healing my relationship with food, and understanding who I am and how I function in my personal and work life. With her skilled guidance, I am continually peeling back the layers of my life and moving forward using what I have learned to achieve my vision of my life.” - Karen W., Blacksburg, VA “When I first started working with Lisa, I was struggling with some empty nest issues, anxiety over my changing life roles and emotional eating. Lisa helped me identify tools to help me work through these. She also helped me to identify early on that I was willing to do the hard work to overcome these battles. I am happy to say that with Lisa’s help I now feel empowered and strong as I face life’s challenges ahead. Thank you Lisa, long distance hug!” - Becky T., Clarkesville, GA ************************* I have been in private practice since 1996. Here are some other things you might want to know about me beyond the nuts and bolts of degrees and certifications. My grown son, Dillon (age 34), still calls me Mom, and has bestowed upon me the loftier titles of "Friend" and "Confidante." I live with my second husband, Michael, our son, Mason (age 13), dog, Sadie, and two cats, Vladimir and Matzo, on a little piece of heaven in rural Kentucky I call Avodah Farms. I am a novice weaver and knitter, and I’m working hard to become fluent in French! I love to read mysteries, drink freshly-ground French Roast coffee, ride motorcycles, work on home renovation projects, grow my own vegetables, eat authentic Mexican food (Well, okay, ANY Mexican food…and drink Margaritas, of course), sip a good Cabernet, spend time out in nature, watch HGTV, keep up with modern pop music, and eat dark chocolate. I’m passionate about preserving historic architecture, and about leaving a small carbon footprint. Oh, and I’m an Enneagram Type One. A big part of my life's purpose is working with women to help them discover all that their lives have to offer them and the ones they love. One of the most rewarding things in life for me is to hold the space for a woman to experience an epiphany or insight that allows her to see things from a different perspective, so she can be happy and live her own life, instead of the one that others expect. Though I live in the Eastern Time Zone of the United States, I work with clients in all time zones and corners of the world. Our coaching sessions are conducted over the phone and I offer appointments as early as 6:00 AM, Eastern time, so you can do your coaching before the work day begins. I book coaching appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and I currently have a few slots open. Are you ready to get started? I’d love to be your partner on the path… <3
