Meet Amy Hanson

Current life (Title)

Health and Wellness Coach & DPP Lifestyle Coach

Tell us about your business/occupation & how you ended up where you are today.

I have a private practice and work for the YMCA-Twin Cities(but currently furloughed due to COVID-19). I ended up where I am at today through loss. May sound strange, but I lost both my mother-in-law and father-in-law to cancer at young ages. What I observed were 2 vastly different approaches to death. One very sterile and medicalized and the other peaceful and holistic. I saw the importance and validity in each approach and wondered how we might be able to approach death and life in a more holistic, balanced, and dignified way. This started me on my quest to want to help others achieve balance and find the True North. I went back to school after being a stay at home parent and challenged myself to honor myself and to help find the good and the strengths in other.

How do you keep yourself motivated?

Each morning I remind myself of why I do what I do. First, I take care of my family which is the greatest motivator for me and second, I believe when we are better individually, we are better collectively and I would like the world to be a better, kinder, more accepting place. This drives me. The faith in us all to do better.
