How is it possible that only 1 out of the top 100 Innovators in the World is a woman?

Congratulations to the CEO of Ross Stores Barbara Rentler for being the only woman named to the Forbes list of America’s Most Innovative Leaders. The list comprised of 99 men and ONE woman…Forbes -- you should be ashamed-#tonedeaf. The Editors didn’t even have the courtesy of including her photograph. Forbes Editor Randal Lane stated days later “Our methodology was flawed…” YA THINK!

The wiseHer platform was created by women for women, but accessible to all. Our diversity brings uniqueness to our expertise and stories.  We know that to rise, we all need to work together...that includes men. Our platform has ‘guys that get it’ as experts because they want the women in their lives to rise. Hopefully more companies and organizations see the potential and will adjust their ‘methodology.”

Here are some other things that caught our attention this week:

1. Introducing Ms. Monopoly

2. For the love of funding

3. Add this to your Fall reading list

4. #wordtothewiseher webinar--didn’t we do this same thing last week?

5. Announcing the Women in Tech Summits Call for Speaking Proposals

1. Introducing Ms. Monopoly

Hasbro announces the launch of Ms. Monopoly. “The Ms. Monopoly game marks the first time in the franchise’s history where a new character will grace the cover — and while Mr. Monopoly is a real estate mogul, Ms. Monopoly is an advocate whose mission is to invest in female entrepreneurs,” Hasbro said in a statement. A little known fact about Monopoly...A woman invented the game more than a century ago.  Keep thinking outside the box.

2. For the love of funding

Congratulations Tiffany Dufu on raising the first $1 million round of funding for the Cru. After getting some traction with the Cru, she began to fundraise because that’s what “she thought founders were supposed to do.” With her non-technical background, she questioned if it was the best option for her company? “I was suffering from a female founder epidemic: trying to figure it all out before you sell it. I called another entrepreneur who helped me understand that it was ok to have a big, bold vision without having the perfect plan to realize it. That’s what the early investment is for – to figure some things out.”

If you’re trying to figure it all out by yourself, The Cru is helping women find their “constellation of women committed to helping each other thrive.” and wiseHer is connecting you to experts that help you with your business and career questions. Ladies, we’ve got your back!.

3. Add this to your Fall reading list

For the Love of Men: A New Vision for Mindful Masculinity” by Liz Plank was released this week. Plank’s book emphasizes that we as individuals, both men and women can “collectively transform” the system we are all a part of. “...there was so much I’d actually not learned about masculinity. And it made me really angry, because there’s a whole half of the population that is missing from conversations around gender theory, and there’s no way for us to really solve any of our problems if we’re not talking about men and how they also have a relationship with their gender. We equate gender with women, when actually, everyone has a gender.” Let’s start a two sided conversation.
